Germany, though they had many gargantuan victories, made three big, costly mistakes. The first mistake was the invasion of the Soviet Union. Germany could not withstand fighting a two-sided war with the USA on the western front and the USSR on the eastern front. Secondly, Hitler erred at Dunkirk in 1940. Ordering his army to plosive consonant right when they were poised to deliver the finishing strike turn out to be a costly oversight. Lastly, and most significantly in my opinion, was Hitlers choice to attempt to take Stalingrad. A long and drawn out battle that cost hundreds of thousands of custody that was followed up by surrendering over a quarter of a million men left the German army without large man power to continue the fight. Hitlers attempt at a two front war, a war being fought in two separate theaters of war, was unintentional and very costly. On 22 June 1941, Hitler ordered the commencement of Operation Barbarossa, which was the code name the German invasion of Soviet Russia.

Although this operation started off smell promising for Germany, it slowly changed to a grim outlook. Hitler caught the USSR off sustain when he invaded. It violated the standing Nazi-Soviet Non-Aggression Pact signed amidst Soviet Russia and Germany signed in 1939.
