A modified study of the automatic processes originally proposed by Stroop (1935).
Abstract
The nominate of this research was to study automatic processes by replicating the previously carried come to the fore Stroop effect.
Ten participants took part in the experiment that were chosen by an opportunistic sample, and were taken into a quiet room separately. They were presented with cardinal lists of words out of which one was congruent and the other incongruent. The date taken for each participant to name the color that that the words were written in was one minute. From this repeated measures design, the results were that participants found substantially more correct words in the congruent break than in the incongruent. The findings corresponded to the earlier research carried out by Stroop. In conclusion, it can be said that the powerfully autonomic constitution of reading words, as it is such a well-learned automatic activity, does hinder with other tasks.
